THE FULLNESS OF ISRAEL
Romans 11:11-12 “I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!”
Father, we thank You for the fullness You’ve promised for Jacob. We ask for You to bring it to pass, and give us grace to agree with Your word in our hearts, minds, and lifestyle.
THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES
Romans 11:25 “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.”
Matthew 24:14 “And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Revelation 7:9-10 “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’”
Father, we ask You to send laborers into the harvest of the unreached and unengaged nations of the earth. Prepare Jesus’ inheritance and bring forth the ‘fullness of the Gentiles,’ that we may well serve Jacob as You prepare him for his fullness.
A MATURE AND FAITHFUL CHURCH
Ephesians 4:11-16 “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
Lord, we know we have a lot of growing up to do. Thank You that You are able to keep what has been committed to You and finish what You started. We say yes to Your brilliant means to bring us into maturity, that Your “one new man” of Jew & Gentile is mature in You.
REPENTANCE IN THE CHURCH
Romans 11:25 “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.”
We must reckon with our ignorance. Paul issued this warning, and Rome did not listen. This ignorance has bred arrogance, and we have sinned against the Jewish people ever since. We cannot ignore the influence of “Church Fathers” that gave license to atrocities like the Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition, and various pogroms throughout history. We cannot serve Jacob if we do not repent of our abuses towards him in the past.
