Israeli Deputy Finance Minister Tzipi Hotovely announced during a Knesset session today that Israel is providing aid to the embattled Syrian Kurds. Without being specific, due to the sensitive nature of Israeli cooperation with Muslim partners in the region, deputy minister Hotovley stated, "We identify with the deep distress of the Kurds, and we are assisting them through a range of channels...and we are proud of our taking a stand alongside the Kurdish people," adding that the aid is being coordinated in concert with the United States government.

The statement comes almost a month after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised aid to Syrian Kurds at the beginning of the Turkish-led invasion of Northeast Syria, or Rojava. Hundreds of thousands of Kurds and Christian minorities have been displaced since the invasion began, with hundreds of civilians killed and injured by bombing and shelling, including the use of restricted weapons, such as phosphorous munitions. The situation for tens of thousands of Syrian Kurds without medical care, food or shelter is dire.

IAI is a division of FAI, and we are proud to be working with Kurdish authorities in the region to provide direct aid to Syrian Kurds during this desperate time. You can make a donation to our Rojava aid drive here. We're praying and working to raise $250,000 by this Friday:

We would also ask our global partners to continue to pray with us for an end to the fighting in Rojava, the withdrawal of Turkish and Turkish-backed forces, and for God to move the international community to actions of compassion and justice on behalf of the Kurdish people
