IDF tanks rumbled towards the border of the Gaza Strip in Israel today, as Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu warned the Strip’s ruling Hamas party that Israel would have to “take action” if it does not convince the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) organization to cease its ongoing rocket fire into Israeli territory. So far, the rockets have caused no reported casualties. A children’s playground in the Israeli border town of Sderot was damaged in one rocket impact, but thankfully, no one was present at the time. A factory in Sha'ar Hanegev was also lightly damaged by a rocket from Gaza.

Over 50 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel in the last 24 hours after an Israeli airstrike on a PIJ facility in Syria killed 2 members of the terrorist organization. PIJ vowed revenge and began the barrage last night, against the orders of Egyptian intermediaries who are responsible for moderating peace between Israel and Hamas.

The Israeli Air Force struck multiple PIJ targets across the Gaza Strip on Monday morning as sirens blared in the “Gaza Envelope” and shelters were opened in Southern Israel to protect civilians. Dozens of Iron Dome interceptions were recorded and uploaded to social media this morning, proving once again the critical role that the system plays in defending the Jewish State.

PIJ’s last major round of rocket fire from Gaza into Israel was in October, 2019, when hundreds of rockets were fired into Israel over the course of several days. Israel barely avoided a military incursion into Gaza during that time. The IDF has not conducted a major ground operation into Gaza since July, 2014.

We would ask our global partners to continue in prayer today for a quick end to the hostilities in Gaza, for the protection of civilians inside both Israel and the Gaza Strip, and for wisdom and effectiveness to be granted to the IDF in combating terrorism. We pray each round of conflict would open pathways for feet shod with the Good News of peace.
