LAST DAY OF THE MATCHING CAMPAIGN!
Today is the LAST DAY of the campaign, and we’ve already hit nearly $92k—so let’s see if we can hit $100k by the END OF TODAY and thrust our FAI Relief teams in Kurdistan into the last quarter of this tumultuous year with the strength and resources needed to serve well.
Over the last three weeks, we invited you to help us raise $75k to meet a matching campaign for The Mobilization Initiative—funding medical personnel from the Global South with resources (mostly) from the Global West.
We’re a humanitarian NGO that relies entirely on the generous and sacrificial support of like-minded friends and family worldwide. We all raise financial support. None of our field personnel take home a salary. So we know how often you hear an appeal from us—and to say we are BLOWN AWAY to have MET and EXCEEDED our goal days early would be an understatement. We know all too well this work cannot be done alone, and cannot be done without you. This show of support has brought tears to our eyes.
This specific campaign has served to fund and support a growing number of Global South workers serving Kurdistan through the COVID-19 pandemic, where resources are low and medical practitioners are rare. It has been the goal and aim of our teams to protect Kurdistan from an outbreak like what has swept through her neighbor, Iran.
We got our feet on Kurdish soil for the first time in January 2015. We vowed then, and vow now, to be #BetterFriendsThanMountains to the Kurds, the largest stateless people group on earth, and arguably one of the most persecuted.

The Mobilization Initiative connects doctors and nurses from the Global South—who are ready and willing to go to the frontier—with those from the West who can send them. We launched The Mobilization Initiative in 2018, and already have funded a groundswell of new medical personnel to move to the Middle East. They're now the ones serving at the forefront of Kurdistan's COVID-19 pandemic.
